Ambassador Giacomo Berutto has officially received from Rotaract Italia the sum of 23,500 euros, through the hands of Daniele Cardella, representative of District 2071: a donation that will cover the costs to build a professional school at the Catholic mission station of Döbra. The project, called “Locus”, already started last year owing to the partnership between the Embassy of the Order in the Republic of Namibia and Italian Rotaract clubs: the building is already under construction, and it will be inaugurated by the end of the year. “The project aims to offer Namibian boys and girls the opportunity to learn the basics of agricultural work, thus providing them with the tools for a better future – stated Ambassador Berutto during the donation ceremony, which took place at the assembly of the Tuscan Rotaract District in Empoli –. The entire project is also supported by the Archbishop of Windhoek and the local Catholic Church, and shows how the Embassy is active and present in the country, fully embodying the obsequium pauperum charisma. The cooperation between the Tuscan Rotaract District 2071 and our Order already made possible the construction of a first aid clinic in Rundu through the “Namimed” project, in 2018; now all the Italian Rotaract Districts have joined to finance this work, and we can only be grateful for their effort”.
