Ambassador Berutto meets governmental and ecclesiastical authorities in Namibia

In the course of his state visit to the Republic of Namibia, Ambassador Giacomo Berutto strengthened relations with local governmental and ecclesiastical authorities, continuing the policy long pursued by the Order’s Embassy in the Country. He was therefore received for a courtesy visit by the Hon. Jennely Matundu, Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, with whom the Ambassador discussed the enhancement of bilateral relations by aligning mutual interests and identifying additional opportunities for humanitarian collaboration. Ambassador Berutto, accompanied by H.E. Fra’ Giovanni Scarabelli, ecclesiastical counsellor, also paid a courtesy call on the Hon. Ester Anna Nghipondoka, Minister of Education, Arts and Culture, and had the chance to renew the Order’s committment in supporting educational issues in Namibia, where the Embassy already runs a kindergarten and has built an agricultural school. Finally, Mr. Giacomo Berutto met H.E. Fr. Willem Christiaans, O.S.F.S., bishop of Keetmanshoop, Fr. Linus Ngenomesho, O.M.I., apostolic vicar of Rundu, and Fr. Benny Karuvelil, C.M.I., general secretary of the Namibian Catholic Bishops’ Conference, to discuss the charitable projects which are now being carried out by the Embassy in Namibia.
