The Embassy to the Republic of Namibia recently organized a charitable Grand Gala to raise funds in support of the humanitarian structures run in Rundu. The event, held at the castle “Sidney Sonnino” in Castiglioncello, Italy, was crowned with a splendid success and saw the presence of many guests, who spent a delightful evening and contributed to the noble cause.

Through the efforts of Ambassador Giacomo Berutto, the picturesque location welcomed important personalities: H.E. Fra’ Roberto Viazzo, member of the Sovereign Council and, on the occasion, representative of the Lieutenant of the Grand Master Fra’ Marco Luzzago, Fra’ Nicolò Custoza de Cattani, Fra’ Giovanni Scarabelli, Ambassador Giuseppe Morabito, diplomatic adviser to the Grand Chancellor, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Namibia to the Order of Malta Linda Scott.

Today, the Embassy runs a kindergarten for more than 120 children, a first aid clinic and a soup kitchen that provides over 400 meals a day: the revenue of the gala evening, together with the contribution of Fondazione Mediolanum, Rotaract and Interact Toscana, will be used to renovate the canteen in Rundu. In addition, during the gala Ambassador Berutto also presented the project for the construction of an agricultural school at the Catholic Mission of Doebra in Windhoek, elaborated in synergy with the Archbishop, and announced that the works will begin in the coming months.
